THE POWER OF WORDS 2020: “Words are the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively or destructively. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate, and to humble.”
So, we really need to choose words wisely, either while we are talking to others and especially when we are talking to ourselves (unconscious mind).
The way we represent things in our mind determines the “HOW”, we feel about life.
“Watch your words, they become actions;
Watch your actions, they become habits;
Watch your habits, they become character;
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny”
So that means WORDS you consistently select will shape your DESTINY.
The words you consistently select will shape your destiny……
A Way of Expression: THE POWER OF WORDS 2020
The way we represent things in our mind determines the HOW we feel about life. An observation made is that if you don’t have a way of representing something, you can’t experience it. We use words as a tool for representing things to ourselves and if there’s no word its often no way to think about the experience. Like some Native American languages have no word for “lie” – this concept is simply not a part of their thinking or behaviour. The concept ceases to exist without a word. Imagine if there was no word like “war” or “hate”!!!
I remember my parents teaching me that if anyone asks…How are you?, I should say, “I am fine” that means no matter how I am, I should reply positively and believe me just by saying that I am fine, I would actually feel fine even if I had a bad cold. I don’t say that just by mere changing words you change the experience but we definitely break our own habitual emotional pattern by changing the words and simultaneously this is how everything starts changing. So, basically its breaking the pattern of words and replacing them with the ones that empower us. And that is called transformational vocabulary – vocabulary that transforms our emotional experience and changes our states to enable us to be aware of our thinking.
If a pattern of words that you are using are creating a state of mind that disempower you, get rid of them and replace them with those that empower you!
I know, that by only changing your words, the experience does not change but you actually break your own habitual emotional patterns and then everything changes completely.
This is what is called TRANSFORMATIONAL VOCABULARY. It transforms our emotional experience and changes our states to empower us.
Lets see how…….
How can we transform our vocabulary? THE POWER OF WORDS 2020
Here is a list of few common negative emotions which can be replaced with the empowering words...
|Old, disempowering emotion||To||New, empowering emotion|
|I am feeling………||I am feeling…….|
|Failure / Stupid||To||Learning / getting educated|
|I hate||To||I prefer|
|Lonely||To||Temporarily on my own|
|Sad||To||Sorting my thoughts|
Do this activity at home. Take a paper and divide it into 2 sides.
On the left side write “OLD, DISEMPOWERING WORD” and on the right side write “NEW, EMPOWERING WORD”.
Make your own list and then put positive words to transform your negative words. See how by just changing the negative words you can easily transform your life.
Now you can do better than this list. You can come up with any 2 words that you habitually
use that creates negative feelings in your life and then next to it writes an alternative word
which will break your pattern either by making you laugh or at least lower the intensity.
Speak to yourself like someone you love. Encourage yourself, motivate yourself, and uplift
yourself with your words.
Change your Mind: THE POWER OF WORDS 2020
WE ARE WHAT WE THINK
ALL THAT WE ARE ARISES WITH OUR THOUGHTS.
WITH OUR THOUGHTS,
WE MAKE OUR WORLD
So this is HOW you use words to change your mind and keep the change… Effectively using transformational vocabulary will transform your emotional experience and changes our states to enable us to ask more intelligent and practical questions to our unconscious mind. Thus, making us aware of what we think when we think. “Happy reframing minds”.
